I made this horse’s head sketch to exemplify the technique of ball pen drawing to someone that didn’t believe how flexible it can be. Ball pens are not my favorite – they tend to leave blobs of ink in the most annoying places – but they do have great range of line strengths that let you play with the shade softly.

The final project of illustrating course in “Minshar” art college was a fascinating one. We had a class competition designing a poster for an opera and the winner’s design gets to be the real poster of that opera! cool. The opera people said they want something young and different, so after some pondering around, I went wild. Anyway, I assumed it’s more just that someone that actually will make a living from this will win, so I could feel free. The opera is Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino”. By the way, the opera’s people didn’t like it claiming it was “too young and different”. whatever…

This was part of a project we did in “Minshar” art college. We had to design a wrapping paper and postcards for a pet shop, using hitching and water stains. I chose cats and birds because I didn’t feel too secure drawing them (and thus – a challenge) but didn’t feel they’re too intimidating (so it’d be a normal investment). I adore the result, specially the funny parts, like the bathing bird or the playing cat lying on his back.

This is a cutout work I did in “Minshar” art college. The technique was very frustrating, since I made such works before in the computer, and making vegetables the hard way wasn’t a good idea in my opinion. The minute we got homework, I asked for permission to change the subject and was happy to at least do something interesting.

This is the third T-shirt I designed for OKAY (Israeli comic book collectors and readers). The idea was someone else’s, I don’t remember who. it says: “OKAY – because comics isn’t a child’s game”. The father is reading Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s “Y-the last man” and the kid is reading “The Barker”, paraphrazing on the name of an Israeli daily economics newspaper called “the Marker”.

A computer enhanced cutout piece, I couldn’t place on any other gallery. I like it – it’s a nice cutout work – and the digital background gives it a nice twist.
